Overview
Many students find themselves spending too much time on technology at school and leaving little space to rest. My goal was to create a campaign that allowed students to unplug from technology for a day and get involved in provided activities to help build intentional connections with the community around them.
Research
To conduct research, I interviewed my peers about unplugging from technology and found some common themes. Students tend to feel anxious when not around their phones. People want to feel more connected to the community. Picking up technology becomes an unconscious habit. I wanted my campaign to help minimize these issues.
Execution
I chose to use a colorful gradient and different typefaces to spark people’s attention to learn more about the campaign. Through the various assets of this campaign, students can spend time away from their phones and build connections beyond the screen.
POSTERS & TABLE SIGNS
These posters and table tents provide information and promote the campaign with icons of different activities students can participate in to unplug. Vivid colors and a mixture of typefaces are used to grab attention from far away.
BANNERS & INFORMATION TABLE
These banner stands would be placed next to their activity so students participating know that event is part of the campaign. The information table allows students to get information about the campaign and resources about participating.
COMMUNITY MURAL
This is an example of one of the unplugged activities which is a community mural. It would be set up as a paint-by-number, so each paint color is associated to a number on the wall. Participants can paint a section and be in community during the process.
GOLF EVENT
This is a second example of an unplugged activity, which is golf. The sign-up sheet would be at the information station for student convenience. This banner stand would be at the golf course upon student arrival so they know where to go for unplugged golf.
REFLECTION JOURNAL
This journal offers facts on why unplugging is beneficial, a space for a writing reflection during the experience, and encouragement in other ways to keep unplugging.
MERCH & SOCIAL MEDIA
These wristband and T-Shirt merch elements provide an intentional way to show you are a part of the campaign and can unite people together. The Instagram post allows students to easily share it with their friends to build engagement and participation in the campaign.
